Who Are Shane Macgowan Parents?
Born in Kent, MacGowan was the son of Irish immigrants. MacGowan was born on Christmas Day in Pembury, Kent. He grew up in Tunbridge Wells. His father Maurice MacGowan was an executive at the C&A retail chain and loved literature and poetry while his mother Therese (nee Cahill).
Therese was a prize-winning Irish dancer singer and former model. Shane attended Holmewood House prep school, near Tunbridge Wells, and won a scholarship to Westminster School in London at the age of 14. MacGowan was a keen music fan.
He formed the Irish punk band Pogue Mahone in 1982 and in 1988 Kirsty MacColl collaborated with The Pogues for the Christmas song Fairytale of New York which reached number two in the UK chart.
He has released seven studio albums of which the first three albums were for Stiff Records: Red Roses for Me (1984), Rum Sodomy & the Lash (1985), If I Should Fall from Grace With God (1988), and their fourth album, Peace and Love (1989).
His early songs, such as Streams of Whiskey, Boys from the County Hell, A Pair of Brown Eyes, A Rainy Night in Soho, The Sick Bed of Cúchulaínn, The Old Main Drag and Sally MacLennane, White City, a homage to the London greyhound track.
MacGowan was honored with a lifetime achievement award at a 60th birthday party in Dublin’s National Concert Hall in 2018. He released a documentary Crock Of Gold: A Few Rounds With Shane MacGowan about his life in 2020.
In 2001, The Shane MacGowan Story had a cinema, and then a DVD was released, further film documentary, Crock of Gold: A Few Rounds With Shane MacGowan, aired on BBC television in 2021.

Irish musician MacGowan lead singer of A Pair of Brown Eyes suddenly passed away at the age of 65 after being hospitalized. MacGowan was diagnosed with encephalitis and he had also used a wheelchair since 2015 after injuring himself in a fall.
MacGowan was survived by his wife Clarke.
His wife Victoria Mary Clarke said on Instagram that MacGowan “meant the world to me”.
She added: “I don’t know how to say this so I am just going to say it. Shane… has gone to be with Jesus and Mary and his beautiful mother Therese.”
